Volunteer caregivers are friends and neighbors of all ages who are trained to provide non-medical services to the elderly and adults with disabilities in the River Cities region of Cabell and Northern Wayne Counties, West Virginia, and Lawrence County, Ohio. Volunteers determine the amount of time they wish to donate and the types of services they would like to provide, such as:

  • transportation
  • shopping/errands
  • respite
  • companionship
  • paperwork
  • yard work
  • minor home repairs
  • light housekeeping/laundry assistance
  • reassurance telephone calls

Referrals

Faith in Action accepts referrals from the individual needing assistance, family members, friends, neighbors, congregations, hospitals, organizations, social service agencies, and nursing homes. To make a referral contact the office at 304/697-1274 or 877/367-1271 (toll-free).

Training

Training for volunteers is free and provided throughout the year by Faith in Action staff and other professionals. Workshops are offered at convenient locations and times. Arrangements can be made to conduct training at times and locations other than those scheduled.
